Stickers for England Military Veterans

Veteran Recognition

This sticker does not add any categories, so any relevant categories for battalion, regiment etc can be added manually if they exist. The text parameters can be used for any text (for example, “The Great War” can be changed to “The Battle of Trafalgar” or any other text); the end-year parameter can also contain text. The year parameters can be changed to suit requirements of a profile. This sticker can also be used for veterans who did not serve in any conflicts (E.g. delete the last piece of text “during the Great War”). To add any more information to the end of the sticker, include | text = more text before the two closing brackets.

Thanks for these, they're really helpful. However I have a pedantic quibble - the Royal Air Force was formed in 1 April 1918 so the default text for the Great War sticker should be

Hi,

I have used several of these stickers, but as an ex-navy person I think the logo you use for the Royal Navy is not really appropriate for any period earlier than the 1970s (sorry I don't know when that image came into use). To me a fouled anchor would be preferable, as that has been associated with RN for several centuries.

Hi Martin, I can change the image if you can provide one for me that is free if copyright and small enough.

Maddy

Hi Ann, Maddy and Ros!

Could you add a sticker for the Merchant Marines in the Crimean war? They weren't officially the Merchant Navy yet, but often referred to as such informally. Or simply refer to them as Merchant Marines instead of Merchant Navy? Something like:

  • [Veteran Recognition | badge-image = Military_and_War_Stickers_Examples_for_England_Profiles-3.png | branch =Merchant Navy | start-year =1853 | end-year = 1856 during the Crimean War. ]
... ... ... is a Military Veteran.
Served in the Merchant Navy 1853-1856 during the Crimean War.

Hi Melissa, you can just adapt the existing stickers however you want for the profiles you are working on - much as you have done. Many thanks for working on these profiles.

Best regards,

Maddy

Thank you for these great stickers Ann, Maddy and Ros - already used three, RAF, ATS and RN. They really compliment the veterans profiles

Great work Maddy and Ros too! There is something appealing about stickers.

Great work Ann! These stickers are the perfect resource to recognise our family members that served; these conflicts determined the course of their lives and generations afterwards.
